Most of this website is about you and your smile, but this is my chance to let you get to know me better.
After over 20 years working as a specialist in orthodontics, I think the best part of being a Wellington & Boynton Beach, FL orthodontist is the look of joy on my patients’ faces when they see themselves in a mirror after their orthodontic treatment is complete. I love seeing people’s lives change with their new, beautiful smiles.
My goal is to make each patient feel at home from the moment they walk through the door. We have very relaxed orthodontic offices in Wellington & Boynton Beach. We are open. We joke around. We have fun.
And we really care about our patients and their families. We often see many members of the same family, and we get to know their extended families over many years, so we get to build great relationships that last for the long-term.
And when I’m not in the office… I’m probably practicing kung-fu, or at the beach (with sunscreen).
My family and I have been living in South Florida since 1996. When we moved to Palm Beach County, I knew we had found our home. I love living near so many great beaches (I love scuba diving in my free time, too), and the community here is wonderful.
When I’m not in the office, I’m surrounded by the smiles of my beautiful wife, Jill, and our two kids. Jill is an artist and she painted all of the artwork for our Wellington orthodontics office. My son, like most kids raised in Florida, loves snow – and we enjoy snowboarding together (when we can). My daughter and I used to watch Miami Heat games together before she began college at New York University. Now, she cheers on the Heat amid those Knicks fans in New York.
I was in the 7 year undergrad-dental school program at NYU (I graduated with Honors from the NYU College of Dentistry in 1989).
In my first year of dental school I loved the growth and development course given by the chairman of the Orthodontic Department. I asked if he had any research positions available, and I soon began doing research on Cleft Lip/Palate babies and other severe craniofacial deformities.
I worked at the NYU Medical Center with these patients, over the summers and during the academic year throughout the rest of dental school. This research, along with my work aiding in the orthodontic treatment of craniofacial patients, steered me into orthodontics (I got my specialty training with Honors in Orthodontics from NYU in 1991).
After that, I did advanced training in New York City hospitals as a Fellow in Craniofacial Deformities and Orthognathic Surgery.
I was an Associate Clinical Professor at NYU for a while, and had practices in New York and Connecticut.
In 1996 my family and I moved to South Florida, where I’ve been practicing ever since.
The same reason I got started in orthodontics–seeing people’s new smiles actually transforming their lives–is still what motivates me every day.
I’m always learning new techniques.
I believe in staying updated on the latest technology and orthodontic treatments. You wouldn’t want a cell phone from 5 years ago if you could have a brand new iPhone, would you?
That’s why I make it my priority to attend continuing education courses, such as Dr. Dwight Damon’s technique for self-ligating brackets.
In fact, I attend anywhere from 12-18 continuing education courses per year. The technology is changing so quickly that it’s important to keep up with the newest, cutting-edge techniques, so that we can implement them in our office.
For example, after learning the new self-ligating bracket technology, we were able to treat over 2500 patients with self-ligating braces. Now they are routinely used in my practice, resulting in faster and more comfortable treatment.
I am certified as a Premier Invisalign provider in Wellington & Boynton Beach, putting our office in the top 5% of Invisalign providers in the country. I strive to provide my patients with the latest technology, more options, and the best results.
I’m also a member of several professional associations, including:
In short, I Associate with other Orthodontists. It’s a great way to keep up-to-date about the latest techniques and treatments, share experiences with my colleagues about what’s been working best for us, and get new material for my cheesy orthodontic jokes (I like to em-BRACE my sense of humor).
